Music has always accompanied mankind at different stages of its development and has been an integral part of its life. Currently, due to modern technologies, we have more options for enjoying our favorite music without leaving our homes.

In the digital age, you can access almost any concert or track that has ever been recorded. However, at the same time, the popularity of live concerts does not decrease. The secret lies in successful marketing, advertising, and human psychology. The fact is that live concerts can bring strong emotions, a sense of unity with like-minded people, an understanding of being involved in something more, and so on.

If we are talking about legendary festivals like Woodstock, this is a philosophy with its own traditions and peculiarities. That is why there are all the prerequisites for the festivals to continue their activity further, delighting and inspiring thousands of people from various corners of the world.

Top 10 Festivals You can Visit

Below, you can check the most popular shows regarding celebrities, the performance scale, audience, etc. Each of them is unique and has its own features.

Coachella Valley show

This festival is dedicated not only to music but also to art as a whole. People first visited it in 1999, and since then, its scene has seen a lot of celebrities, including Jay Z, Snoop Dog, Rage Against the Machine, and more. Visitors can enjoy the high-quality sound of any bands and performers and appreciate the colossal installations from the best artists in the world.

So, for example, one of the most impressive performances was the installation “The Tower of Twelve Stories” created by a native of Taiwan. This festival is also considered the location of the best concert in the history of the Daft Punk band.

Show in Glastonbury

Unlike the previous version, this festival was founded in 1970. At that time, the organizers planned to create a modest two-day concert for which the visitors had to pay only £1. However, fate had other plans for this show, and it became one of the most legendary events in the world. Until now, you have to do your best to get a ticket for it since, according to statistics, they are sold out within 30 minutes after release.

Diversity is something that distinguishes this performance: it brings together people of various musical tastes. So, at one time, David Bowie, The Who, Steve Wonder, etc., took part in the festival. The popularity of this event became the reason for making movies about its unique atmosphere and energy.

Roskilde show

This festival is almost the same age as the previous one and has been regularly held in Denmark since 1971. Remarkably, this is one of the longest-running festivals you can visit. It is currently an eight-day of non-stop action that consists of four days of preparation and four days of the key groups’ performances.

Every year this show is visited by at least 100,000 people who are distributed among eight different stages. The number of performers is also impressive. So, on average, this show regularly attracts more than 175 bands and singers from different corners of the world. It is noteworthy that the performance’s organizers donate all the money earned to charity.

PINKPOP

This festival has also been held annually for over 53 years. To take part in it, you need to proceed to the city of Landgraaf, east of Maastricht. The festival’s duration is only three days, which may not seem so long. However, this is compensated by top bands and performers, among which at the time were Foo Fighters, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Rammstein, and others.

In addition to the actual concert, this show has PINKPOP Expo, a permanent exhibition in nearby Gelin. There you can learn more about the festival’s history, look at significant photographs, learn about some artifacts and even watch live concerts in the local cinema.

Woodstock

For many, the word Woodstock is associated with the festival’s concept. It is a truly iconic event, which was attended by more than half a million people on the first day of its opening. The festival was held on the territory of one of the ranches near New York. At various times, stars like Janis Joplin, The Incredible String Band, and others performed on its stage.

Many had probably seen the famous performance of one of the best guitarists in the world, Jim Hendrix, when he played “The Stars and Stripes Banner”. Even though the festival is periodically “revived,” it has not yet been possible to achieve the success and resonance that it got in 1969.

Jazz Concert in Montreal

It is an international show dedicated exclusively to jazz and brings together top performers worldwide. The scale of the show is truly impressive: with over 2 million visitors in 2004, it gained a rightful place in the Guinness Book of Records. The duration of the concert is ten days, during which you can enjoy the performance of more than 3000 artists from different parts of the world. Another special feature of the show is that you can visit two-thirds of all the concerts free of charge.

Final Thoughts

Nowadays, just like many years ago, festivals are places that unite, inspire and energize people. It is a great option to spend time and get away from the work routine, make new acquaintances, and expand your horizons.

At the present time, festivals of one kind or another are held in almost all corners of the planet. You can choose those that meet your musical interests: metal, pop, jazz, and more. During the covid pandemic, holding festivals has become a tough task to do. But with the gradual easing of quarantine, they are again being revived to delight thousands of people.
